The
Links of Kent was established on January 25th,
2005 with the purchase of two former golf
course’s known as the Indian Creek Golf course
and the Raleigh Meadows Golf Club. With this
purchase the new owners of the course Mr. Glenn
Markham and his wife Betty undertook to
reconfigure the two former courses into one
facility offering 27 holes of play. The Links
Of Kent now operates from the newly renovated
restaurant. The new restaurant has an open
concept providing a panoramic view of a number
of the golf holes surrounding the new facility.
This restaurant combined with a new 4500 sq. ft
deck and covered veranda offers a unique setting
for golf tournaments and social gatherings
alike.
The
course is open to the public and offers 3
different and challenging nine hole layouts with
each nine bringing its own unique and
interesting character to your individual round
of golf. No matter which of the nines you play
each has a par 35 layout and will provide a
significant challenge to golfers of all skill
levels.
Major
course renovations where undertaken after the
purchase and the 18 - hole layout now has
complete tee to green irrigation. Anyone who
has played either of the two former courses will
be delighted with the significant changes that
have been made. Along with the irrigation a
significant amount of course drainage was laid
and with the addition of 13 new ponds and
waterways, the course drains extremely well. A
significant amount of work was completed in
March and April of 2005, which resulted in
minimal damage to the course. All
the major upgrades to the course have now been
completed. All the bunkering was completely
upgraded with re-contouring, new drainage and
new sand.
2008 Season Update - The Links of Kent is
now an 18 hole golf course. See the course

COURSE DESIGN
Prior to
the recent sale to the present owners the golf
course properties had been leased to different
golf course operators for over 50 years. The
course lay out over the years has been upgraded
and modified by the operators with the most
recent changes being made by the present golf
course superintendent Bob Harwood. New mounding
waste bunkers, ponds and fairway mounding was
done under his careful direction and supervision
and over 200 hundred trees were moved or planted
throughout the course to create the present
layout. Local patrons who have played the course in the
past are astonished by the changes that have
been made in such a short period of time, and
the minimal affect on play.
